Robert Palmer's "Addicted To Love" Was Supposed To Be A Duet With Chaka Khan.

Robert Palmer's "Addicted To Love" was a huge hit from his 1986 release on Island Records, Riptide.

The song is a quintessential 80's song. The video, well known for Palmer singing in front of a sexy all female band where each member looks alike was so popular that it is still parodied today.

I recently read an interview with Chaka Khan where she mentioned that the famous 80s pop tune was supposed to be a duet between Palmer and herself.

After a little bit of digging, I found out it was true. They recorded the duet but Palmer's record label and Khan's record label could not come to terms over the release of the song. So Palmer re-recorded Khan's parts himself and the rest is music history.

Khan receives a credit in the album's liner notes for the vocal arrangement for the track.

Another interesting fact about the song is that Bernard Edwards, bass player for 70s disco icons, Chic, played bass as well as produced the track and the entire Riptide album.
